The ALFA Programme [Academic Latin America Training] was approved by the European Commission on the 10th of March 1994. Its objective is to "promote technological and scientific improvements, and in a more general sense, encourage improvements within an economic, social and cultural context via the conducting of training actions, encouraging the transfer of knowledge, preferably through training and investigative cooperation at a regional level."
Under the acronym of NEWTON (New Technologies in Oncology), a group of European and Latin American experts, supported by the infrastructure of the TATIANA UETP, have collaborated together in order to present an ambitious project before the ALFA Programme, which will focus upon the adequate training of professionals, specifically in relation to the adaptation to new technologies.
The network consolidates 9 European and 5 Latin American Universities, united by previous experience and participation in other European programmes as well as investigative experience in the area of pathological tumors. We hope that this initiative will achieve all that we all are hoping for.
El programa ALFA [América Latina Formación Académica] fue aprobado por la Comisión Europea el 10 de marzo de 1994. Su objetivo es "promover la mejora del potencial científico y tecnológico y, en general, del contexto económico, social y cultural de América Latina, mediante acciones de formación y de transferencia de conocimiento, favoreciendo la formación y la investigación en el marco de la cooperación regional."
Bajo el acrónimo de NEWTON (New Technologies in Oncology), un grupo de expertos europeos y latinoamericanas apoyados en la infraestructura de TATIANA acordaron presentar al programa ALFA un ambicioso proyecto basado en la adecuada formación de los profesionales, en especial en lo que se refiere su adaptación a las nuevas tecnologías. La red está formada por Universidades de 9 países europeos y 5 latinoamericanos, animados por anteriores experiencias de participación en diversos programas e interesados en la investigación en el área de la patología tumoral. Esperamos que está iniciativa consiga el resultado que todos deseamos.
