FLOW CYTOMETRY

November 1994, Cambridge, ENGLAND

Comprising of three levels, advanced, basic and combined, this course organised by the Royal Microscopical Society and part financed by the UETP TATIANA, aimed to provide all 35 participants from either a medical or clinical background with a sound understanding of the concepts of flow cytometry - and for the advanced audience, a broad insight into the modern applications of flow cytometry as well as its use in Clinical Practice and Molecular Biological Applications. A series of mixed practical and theory sessions were incorporated into the programme of 39 hours, with practical demonstrations from other collaborating enterprises.

Introduction to image cytometry - BASIC PRINCIPLES AND GOOD PRACTICE

December 1994, Porto, PORTUGAL

Part financed by the UETP TATIANA and organised by the "Center de Formação E Treino em Biotecnologia médica". Under the auspicies of the Instituto de PATología e IMUnología Molecular de la Universidad de Porto (IPATIMUP), this course aimed to provide its 15 participants with a theoretical and practical knowledge in the use and operation of image cytometry. Leading field experts were invited to collaborate in the course, providing up to date information on a range of applications for participants from various fields, including Researchers and Laboratory technicians from medical, academic and industrial backgrounds.

During this XXIII meeting of the Spanish Society of Cytology, the opportunity was taken to present a recently completed interactive Multimedia system - "FORTCIA" which was developed and programmed by the team at the Image Processing Service of the University of Oviedo. Designed for use within the field of continuous training and education in Cytology and Cytopathology, the meeting provided the ideal opportunity to demonstrate the systems capabilities and its potential future use. This project has been subsidised by the European Social Fund and managed by the TATIANA UETP.

ACTIVIDADES DESARROLLADAS

Comprendiendo los tres niveles de avanzado, básico y combinado, este curso organizado por la Royal Microscopical Society y financiado parcialmente por la AUEF TATIANA tuvo por objeto proporcionar a los 35 participantes, procedentes tanto del campo de las ciencias biomédicas teóricas o aplicadas, una profunda comprensión de los conceptos de citometría de flujo. El curso avanzado se centró en las diversas aplicaciones de la Citometría de Flujo, su valor en la práctica clínica y biología molecular. El curso tuvo una duración de 39 horas teóricas / prácticas con una importante participación empresarial.

Parcialmente financiado por la AUEF TATIANA y organizado por el "Centro de Formação E Treino em Biotecnologia Médica". Bajo los auspicios del Instituto de PATología e IMUnología Molecular de la Universidad de Porto (IPATIMUP), este curso tuvo por objetivo proporcionar a sus 15 participantes, un conocimiento teórico y práctico en la utilización de la citómetría de imagen.

Los ponentes aportaron sus conocimientos sobre el tema y proporcionaron información actualizada a los asistentes, entre los que se incluían investigadores y técnicos de laboratorio médicos, universitarios, empresas.

REUNIONES

El Servicio de Proceso de Imagen de la Universidad de Oviedo ha elaborado recientemente un sistema Interactivo Multimedia como material educativo de formación continua en Citología. La XXIII Reunión Científica de la Sociedad Española de Citología ha sido el marco elegido para la presentación de este producto y así poder mostrar sus posibilidades ante profesionales de los campos interesados en la Citología y Citopatología. Este proyecto ha sido subvencionado por el Fondo Social Europeo y gestionado por la AUEF TATIANA.
