XX LATIN-AMERICAN CONGRESS OF PATHOLOGY
September 1995, Santiago de Chile, CHILE

With the motive of the XX Latin-American Congress of Pathology, representatives of the Association travelled to the American continent to support and capitalise the collaboration, initially established with Latin-American institutions and enterprises, with the aim of the creation of the NEWTON network. As a result of this visit, the network presented its project the ALFA programme, which was actually standardised by the delay of the response of the Commission.

Furthermore, the established contacts in Santiago de Chile invited TATIANA to go to present their projects in other Chilean universities as Valdivia. The great reception for the Association had to be optimistic at the time of consolidation of future collaboration.

c.- Partners visiting the Managing Office

During 1995, a total of 34 representatives of European Partner Institutions and Enterprises visited the Management Office to specify the commitments and establish and organise the collaboration of future projects.

Such actions reflect the scope of transnationality of TATIANA, which received visitors from Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Cuba and the United States of America.

2. Database - Management Information System (DB-MIS)

As in the 1994 Annual Report, in TATIANA, we are always striving to find new methods which will assist us in improving the effectiveness of our operational tasks and choice to carry out a change in the Management Information System.

To implant this elaborately new system in Visual Basic (TIX), which has the capacity, to collect the information on courses, interchanges of students and personnel, necessary detection and additional support for all the members of the organisation.

To connect our local network of the PC base "Windows for Workgroups", so it may agree with TIX from any computer network (4 in total).

TATIANA has recently incorporated a fax-modem for use in connection with TIX, as well as via the Internet. These changes have contributed to a better administrative structure of the organisation and a larger offer of service to the members.

The INTERNET represents a potential for information that has lead TATIANA to the built-in information in the World Wide Web (W.W.W.) of the University of Oviedo. This way it may gain access to the available information of general interest (Newsletter, Annual Report, etc.) as well as the information related with the activities (exchanges, training actions, etc.). TATIANA has also incorporated a fax-modem for use in connection with TIX, as well as via the Internet.

These changes have contributed to better organisation of the administrative structure and larger services to offer to members.

3. Publications

The Association fulfilled various publications, publishing the collected results of the elaborate documentation with the training actions.

a.- General Information

During 1995, 3 newsletters were published, that had accurately gathered together all the information of interest to the members of TATIANA.
