ORPEGEN Pharma undertakes contract research and development:

• on peptides and proteins: synthesis, sequencing, HPLC protocols, protein characterization by SDS-PAGE, Western blot, IEF, carbohydrate analysis, and enzymatic mapping

• in biotechnology: pharmaceutical grade proteins from natural sources, proteins from recombinant mammalian cell cultures, establishment of recombinant cell lines, purification and quality control, process validation

• in molecular biology: DNA trace determination (Threshold® system), DNA amplification, cloning, sequencing, construction of expression vectors, investigation of the stability of production cell lines by pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), detection of mutations by temperature gradient gel electrophoresis (TGGE), primers and probes, viral decontaminations

• in cell biology and immunology: contract production of monoclonal antibodies (roller bottle cultivation/bioreactor from Endotronics, AcuSyst Junior), in vitro assays for the screening of immunopharmacologically active compounds (flow cytometric analysis using PHAGOTEST®, BURSTTEST (PHAGOBURST®) and NKTEST®, cytokine release, receptor activation), in vivo models, sensitive contaminant or residual protein assay based on ILA (Threshold® system), preclinical studies and clinical monitoring by flow cytometry (FACScan), development and validation of ELISA systems, LAL-test.
