
As can be seen from the above histogram, this ALL also has a dual population
of blasts consisting of CD2 positive and CD2 negative fractions.
Although the overall phenotype is identical to case 1, the morphology
of the blasts in this case is different, with two distinct populations
evident on examination.
Approximately 70% of blasts were L1 type and the remainder L2, which
roughly matches the percentages of CD2 neg (62%) and CD2 pos (31%) populations
seen on analysis.
The Forward scatter vs CD2 plot below shows that the CD2 "subset" has
a higher degree of pleomorphism, also suggesting that the L2 blasts are
the CD2 positive fraction.
The CD45 expression in this case was also very broad but, exactly opposite
from Case 1, the CD19 expression was narrow and the CD10 expression wide.

Of technical interest is the fact that, like the T ALL (case B), the commercial permeablising reagent gave a negative TdT result which was shown to be positive by the "in house" method.
