research *planning* and *funding* in Europe is
being increasingly *centralized* within the EU i.e
the European national cytometric societies have
to *adapt* to this rapidly progressing development
(see: http://www.biochem.mpg.de/valet/efcsrat1.html)
A challenging discussion on the foundation
of a European Federation or Union of Cytometric
Societies (EFCS/EUCS) has just been *completed*
(see transcript at: http://www.biochem.mpg.de/valet/efcs.html)
The Belgian, Danish, French, German, Iberian,
Italian, Hungarian and UK societies or sections
will shortly form a *foundation council* constituted
by official representatives of the various societies.
The above national cytometric societies represent
about 1.700 European clinical, research and industry
scientists (see table at: http://www.biochem.mpg.de/valet/efcsmem1.html)
EFCS/EUCS, following its foundation, will constitute
a *regional* cytometry association. It will *strengthen*
the international cytometry network and positively
*coordinate* its activities with ISAC.
Best regards
G.Valet
