We have used a label from Zynaxis (now carried by Sigma) called PKH-26. It
intercalates into the phospholipid membrane of the cell and is probably
stable for the life of the cell. If the cell is mitotic, it will divide
with it and the fluorescence will also half. It will excite at 488nm and
emit in the 570nm range I believe.

{ Readily be taken up by viable cells.
{ Not be removed by washing immediately afterwards.

fluorescence.

{ Potential excitation wavelength for the dye to be used is not a
{problem, as the analysis will be performed using a FACStar+ with a choice

{488nm., UV & dye laser excitation available.
