We have also done this on a coherent 90-2 from an original Epics C.
It works fine - we are currently using the laser in an entirely
unrelated application to flow cytometry. The proceedure is not
trivial and involves playing around in a potentially very dangerous
environment -ie the laser power supply. You need a new coverplate, a
small controller which actually sits on the front of the power supply
and blind faith when you switch it on!
