Of course - we've discussed that before. Most "Flow images"
contain text in addition to rasterized lines. Most Fonts at 72dpi are
relatively crude when compared to say, PostScript output at 300dpi. So,
I believe it totally justified to enable high resolution output of
flow data, even if the ratio of "pixels" to "data points" does wander
to where the resolution is greater than that of the displayed data.
In addition, with a panel of plots at 300dpi, you can reduce the
size for publication without losing data due to bitmap image hacking. This
is where scalable image files come in handy. Nobody wants a bitmap
shrinking algorithm "drawing" their data.
The sobriety of the investigator in performing these tasks, however,
is obviously beyond our control....
