Mac Upgrades?

I've seen recent discussion concerning upgrading FACScans connected to
the HP340 system to power Macs. A year ago the flow lab here
purchased a very nice Power Mac 7600/132 and Cell Quest with just
that in mind, but were apparently told AFTER it was all purchased
that it could not be connected to the HP-rigged Scan. Was that
wrong? Can we somehow link this computer to the Scan as we
originally planned? If so, who out there has done this and
specifically how? Who at BD has experience in this that we should
contact?
