HIV+ cells/stream-in-air sorting/safety issues

Can anyone refer me to any existing regulations/suggestions concerning
safety issues when it comes to cell sorting with UNFIXED samples known to be
from HIV+ patients, or cells purposely infected in vitro? In the absence
of known regulations, what precautions have you implemented in your facility
to insure the safety of the operator? For example, is a BL3 room a minimal,
adequate or more than necessary condition?

thanks
