Sensitivity
MoFlo's sensitivity is astonishing. It's unique fluorescence collection optics and triple pinholes, combined with a stream-in-air produces sensitivities which rival those of cuvette systems. A mixture of eight reference beads was analyzed on a standard MoFlo MLS prior to shipment. The results speak for themselves:

Spherotech Rainbow® particles were analyzed using an Innova® 90 laser at 488nm. All eight populations are clearly resolved.
Purity
All flow cytometers boast impressive purity specifications. Only the MoFlo MLS** is capable of generating outstanding purity results such as these at 25,000 events/sec.:

Mouse thymocytes were stained with CD4-FITC and CD8-RED613. The sample was sorted at >28,000 events/sec. Resulting purity was >99.5%

**MLS model. The same results are achieved with the DTS model at 15,000 events/sec.
Recovery/Yield
Turning up the sort speed only to degrade recovery and yield is a losing proposition. Only the MoFlo has the electronics technology to overcome this dilemma. In addition, the MoFlo's unique MixedMode sorting allows you to capture nearly 100% of your positive cells by sorting single cells into a purity tube while directing all aborts into a recovery tube.

A mixture of Coulter® Immuno-Brite particles (Level II and IV, 50:50) were sorted at 10,000 particles per second in enriched mode. Analysis of the center (waste) stream shows a depletion of cells of interest as predicted by Poisson statistics.
CVs
When multiple lasers are focused through a single optical element, only one beam can traverse the optical center of the lens. The other beam shapes are necessarily compromised. This situation is best seen by noting the larger CVs generated by the off-axis beam vs. the on-axis beam. The MoFlo eliminates this frustrating situation by utilizing separate optical elements for each beam. All beams are spatially separated and optically optimized. The results are clear:
