PharMingen has released several new antibodies against the glutamate receptor:
Polyclonal Anti-GluR1, Cat. No. 60646N: The antibodies recognize human, rat, monkey, gerbil and hamster GluR1. The GluR1 antibodies do not cross-react with GluR2, GluR3, or GluR4. A synthetic peptide corresponding to the carboxyl terminus (amino acids 877-889: SHSSGMPLGATGL) of rat GluR1 was used as immunogen.
Applications include western blot analysis (0.51 µg/ml), immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemistry of paraformaldehyde- and paraformaldehyde/glutaraldehyde-fixed frozen tissue sections (12 µg/ml) for use in light and electron microscopy. In western blots, the antibodies recognize a major band at ~108 kD corresponding to GluR1. Higher molecular weight bands at around 200 kD may represent incompletely reduced complexes of glutamate receptors.
Applications include western blot analysis (2 µg/ml), immunohistochemistry of 4% paraformaldehyde-fixed frozen tissue sections (2 µg/ml), immunohistochemistry of 4% paraformaldehyde-fixed tissue cultured cells, post embedding immunogold electron microscopy, and radioimmunoassay.
