Human Recombinant SDF-1alpha

SDF-1alpha (stromal derived factor) is a member of the CXC group of chemokines and was originally characterized as a pre-B cell stimulatory factor (PBSF) derived from bone marrow stromal cells.

SDF-1a was recently identified as the ligand for fusin (CXCR4).(1,2) SDF-1alpha is chemotactic for lymphocytes and monocytes and has been shown to block infection of T cells by HIV-1.(1)

Chemotaxis of human T cells in response to SDF-1alpha. T cells were prepared from human peripheral blood. Chemotaxis in response to human synthetic SDF-1alpha was determined using a multiwell chemotaxis chamber and a 5uM polycarbonate filter, coated on the lower side with mouse type IV collagen. 8 high power (400x) fields were counted for each concentration of SDF-1alpha used.
