What I have learned working with the Vantage ist that proper optical
alignment (i.e. y-knob, focussing the laser beam, and optimizing the
fluorescence sigmals) helps in reducing abort rates; also it is
crucial to have the dead time adjust knob on card cage slot 13
set properly. Play with that knob a little while running a
sample and monitoring the abort rate.
